Super Mario Run has been announced for mobile devices and the runner will launch first on iOS later this year.
Mario’s first foray in to the mobile gaming space was shown off by Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto at Apple’s yearly iPhone event on September 7, 2016.
Super Mario Run is a side-scrolling auto-runner game, akin to Ubisoft’s Rayman titles on mobile. Mario will run automatically from left to right and the player can tap on the screen to make Mario do one of his patented jumps.
It is stated that the game will also feature a time trial mode where players will have the ability to race against a “ghost” version of a second players attempt at a level.
Super Mario Run will feature in-app purchases and will be available to download on iOS devices this December with a Android release coming later.
